As the 18th anniversary of September 11, 2001 approaches, our hearts are with the families and friends of the almost 3,000 men, women and children who were taken from us on that tragic day.
It’s important that we keep them in our memories. And so this week, we thought we’d highlight a few of the 9/11 remembrance events in Texas. Here’s a list of some of those events (click the links for more details):
- NBDA Houston in collaboration with Combined Arms—September 11th Gathering to Remember: Wednesday, September 11, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at Little Woodrow’s Midtown, 2306 Brazos St., Houston.
- Rice Chorale, In Memoriam: 9/11/2001: Wednesday, September 11, from 7:30 to 10 p.m., at the Stude Concert Hall at the Shepherd School of Music, 6100 Main St., Houston.
- GatorServe: September 11th National Day of Service: Saturday, September 14, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Boyce-Dorian Park, 2000 Erastus St., Houston. Event aims to help area seniors with house and yard work.
- 9th Annual September 11th Memorial Mt. Bonnell Climb: Wednesday, September 11, from 7 a.m. to noon, at Mount Bonnell, 3800 Mt. Bonell Rd., Austin.
- 9/11 Heroes Run: Sunday, September 29, beginning at 9 a.m. at Camp Mabry, 2200 W 35th St., Austin.
- Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run: Sunday, September 15, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Reverchon Park, 2505 Maple Ave., Dallas.
- Texas Pink Floyd’s Remember the Fallen of 9/11, Wednesday, September 11, beginning at 7 p.m. (doors open) at Granada Theater, 3524 Greenville Ave., Dallas.
- 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony: begins at 7:44 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11, at the War on Terror Memorial Site in the Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial, 3101 Harvey Rd, College Station, TX
- 9/11 Parade and Program: Wednesday, September 11, beginning at noon in downtown Taylor, Texas.
- Town of Prosper 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, Wednesday, September 11, beginning at 7:30 a.m., at Town Hall, 200 South Main St., Prosper.
- Prosper 9/11 Blood Drive: Saturday, September 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Walmart located at 500 Richland Blvd., Prosper.
- AFROTC Detachment 835 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb: Wednesday, September 11, from 6 to 8 a.m., at Apogee Stadium, 1251 S. Bonnie Brae St., Denton.
