Ten years ago, the term smart home wasn’t something people were familiar with. The idea of automated devices synced up and working together was still something we’d only seen in science fiction.
Today, smart homes are a reality. And it’s becoming more and more common to see these different devices working to help us live more-efficient and trouble-free lives. And these products just keep getting better!
This week, let’s look at six really cool smart devices for the home.
Eufy RoboVac 11S smart vacuum. Featuring a slim, compact design, the Eufy RoboVac 11S sweeps, vacuums and recharges automatically—returning to its power charger when the battery is low. This little robot cleans constantly, and it’s small enough at less than 3 inches to fit under most furniture. The Eufy RoboVac also features BoostIQ, which means it automatically increases its suction power when it knows it needs more energy to clean properly. And although it’s totally automatic, it also comes with a remote control.
Yunmai Premium Bluetooth Smart Scale. More than a standard weight scale, the Yunmai uses fitness data technology, Bluetooth connectivity and body index analysis to help you maintain overall health. With it, you can access data on the scale itself, through a special app or using a website dashboard. The Yunmai can measure body fat percentage, muscle and bone mass, hydration level and body age. And it can even be synced up with other health and wellness technologies—such as the Google Fit.
The SmartPlate. Trying to watch what you eat? Let the SmartPlate help. The plate and its smartphone app work together to help you reach and maintain defined health goals. It works with advanced photo recognition and AI to help you log and analyze up to three different foods at a time, so you can keep track of your calories.
Lutron Caseta Wireless In-Wall Dimmer smart light switch. Replace your old wall switch with a Lutron Caseta switch, and you’ll be able to control your lights and small appliances from anywhere with your smartphone. This hardwired light switch can adjust brightness or turn wired lights off and on and can control up to 17 bulbs—depending on wattage. Lutron makes several different versions of these switches for different needs, and all are available in four different colors.
Eight Sleep Pod smart mattress. With its pressure point relief system, the Eight Sleep Pod is similar to a memory foam mattress. But it also features sleep tracking and a temperature-regulated smart alarm. At the start of your rest, the mattress maintains a neutral temperature. But then it slowly cools to promote deep sleep and then warms back up as it gets closer to your waking time—bye bye, alarm clock! You can review your sleep report in the Eight Sleep Pod app. And both sides of the bed can be set to accommodate couples with different sleep preferences. And in true smart device form, the mattress syncs up with other devices such as Google Home and Nest.
Samsung Family Hub Smart Fridge. The Family Hub smart refrigerator comes in several sizes and door configurations and features a large touchscreen on one of the door panels. It can recognize individual voices and provide personalized information for different members of the family. This fridge features 36 different apps to help you manage your kitchen. You can adjust fridge temps, plan meals, access recipes, get alerts when food is about to expire and even look inside your fridge while you’re at the grocery store, in case you can’t remember what you came in to buy.
