When you combine the empathy veterans have with their fellow servicemen and women, and then add a taste for adventure in the civilian world, you get the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA).
As stated on the Association’s website, their mission is to “support and defend those who have defended our country and our freedoms. Our focus is to help veteran care facilities and provide a warm meal, clothing, shelter, and guidance, or simply to say ‘Thank You,’ and ‘Welcome Home.’”
The Association has chapters in many states, and Texas is certainly no exception. Yet it all began out of a meeting of bike-riding veterans in 2001, all of whom believed they had joined an online club. However, the initial members realized, upon their first meeting, that the so-called club of veteran bikers was in fact just a scheme to separate them from their money. But in the spirit of veterans helping one another, the bikers decided to form their own organization right then and there. And so the CVMA was born.
Events are held all over the U.S. for fundraising, camaraderie and just good old-fashioned biking wherever the road leads the members’ spirits. A glance at the schedule of upcoming events reveals such traditional charitable events as a mostaccioli dinner and long-distance runs. And what group of bikers would be complete without patches to wear proudly on their gear, signifying membership in a very special organization?
The next national gathering of the CVMA is scheduled for June 22, 2016 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Veteran Energy is pleased to recognize the Association as one of its Affinity Partners, all of which pledge support to military veterans and their families.
