A Lookback on 2019

It’s been another great year here at Veteran Energy. With the support of our caring customers, our total giveback to Support Our Heroes climbed to $663,916 by the end of 2019.

Through our trusted Affinity Partners, that money is making a positive impact in the lives of our Texas veterans, military members and their families. Here are some of the highlights from these partners over the last year.

Paws for Heroes

  • Adopted, trained and placed five new dogs with deserving Texas veterans in 2019 (and helped find homes for two other shelter rescues)
  • Raised more than $58,000 with the help of Texas veteran Kip Othold, who trekked across the U.S. on a bike to raise money for the group. Kip also gave several thousand dollars of his own money to the group and plans to do another ride for Paws for Heroes in 2020.

Texas VFW (since July of 2019)

  • Performed 11,917 community service projects statewide
  • Volunteered 129,236 hours to service projects
  • Donated $1,441,846 to service projects
  • Awarded $394, 000 in scholarships to students and teachers

Combined Arms

  • Brought their count up to 5,800 veterans served
  • Grew their veteran resources to more than 20,000
  • Added four new member organizations—bringing their total to 60 (and counting!)

Lone Survivor Foundation

  • Grew their count to 1,448 veterans served since 2010
  • Brought their totals since 2010 to 30,408 hours of therapeutic services provided
  • Began renovating a North Carolina home that will be used as a therapy retreat center

Fisher House Foundation

  • Opened seven new Fisher Houses
  • Served 32,500 families
  • Volunteered 110,000 hours
  • Saved families in need $41.7 million
